2021 In a Nutshell

Another year in the books. I can fully say that 2021 was quite a year. This whole year went by extremely fast and was full of adventures, sorrows, laughter, many storms, many achievements, highs and lows.

Keep scrolling to see how 2021 in a nutshell was for us!

January: We made a huge adult move, toured houses and then put in an offer. The next morning, they had accepted our offer. We also went down to the Kansas City area and spent the weekend with close friends!

February: February was such a crazy month! We had our Virtual Tri-State Convention for work, I celebrated by 29th birthday, had an ectopic pregnancy which was so devastating and we closed and moved into our home!

March: March marked 1 year of offically working remotely from home so Kane and I set up our offices in one of the spare bedrooms in our home, celebrated our nephew Brayden’s 4th birthday—Kane and our friend Kodi dressed up as Iron Man and the Hulk for the party. We also celebrated Kane & Kyle’s 31st birthday AND our nephew Maddux’s 2nd birthday (same day!) Megan, Joy and I did a painting class for Megan’s birthday! As you can see, March was full of birthdays!

April: What a fun month! It started getting warmer, we celebrated opening day for MLB, slow pitch started, celebrated Easter AND our nephew, Levi was born!

May: May was FULL of fun times with family and friends….we even went a St. Louis Cardinals game for the first time since 2019!

June: Let the wedding season begin! We had two weddings, celebrating Lisa (family vet) and Breanna and Mason! Love Week for church was a success with blanket making for Blank Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.

July: July was fun and emotional. At the beginning of the month, we found out that we had a miscarriage. The following week was a much needed week with family back in my hometown, Pocahontas, for Heritage Days. The month started to get better with pool fun at Kane’s parent’s house and our Team Kelsey Foundation Golf Outing!

August: SUCH AN EXCITING MONTH! My favorite country singer, Dustin Lynch, came to the Iowa State Fair and you know Kane and I went and saw him! We also ended up seeing 50 Cent. August marked Kane and I’s 1 year wedding anniversary. So you know of course, we headed to St. Louis to catch a Cardinals game, have a fancy dinner and just enjoy time away from reality and more time with each other. We also made a special trip to Estherville to visit my sister, brother in-law, and our two nephews.

September: We celebrated our niece’s 1st birthday (who dominated her smash cake, nice job!!!), Sam, Nolan and the boys came down for a visit and also a wedding, had a fun bonfire for our women’s ministry, we celebrated my cousin Tony and his wife Rebecca’s wedding and I attended The Gathering at Abundant Life church for a women’s ministry event! How fun!

October: One of my favorite months because it’s starting to get cooler and I love fall! We celebrated a dear friend of mine’s wedding (fall weddings are so beautiful!), had another wonderful women’s ministry event at our church, took our nephew, Brayden, to a movie, went to a pumpkin patch, Kane got shingles, went to Colin and Becca’s wedding (which was Halloween themed) and I rededicated my life to Christ!

November: We had a couple of game nights at a friend’s house, FINALLY got our HUGE tree cut down in our backyard, celebrated Thanksgiving with family and decorated for Christmas!

December: What a month FULL of family fun and festivities! Kane and I created a Christmas bucket list which consisted of baking cookies with family, attempting to make cut out cookies that didn’t turn out too bad, tasted good but the shapes weren’t too great, celebrated Christmas with both sides of the family and spent NYE with friends!

What a year! Ups and downs, highs and low, laughter and sorrow but most importantly, it was well spent with family and friends and growing in my faith. I’ve learned a lot throughout this past year and I’m excited to see what God has in store for me in 2022!
